Anna Gunn

Anna Gunn (born in America) is an American actress. She was best known as Skyler in AMC's Breaking Bad drama, and won Primetime Emmy Award Outstanding Supporting Female Actress for Drama Series 2013 & 2014. As well as playing Martha Bullock and Jean Ward as well, she was a part of The Practice. Anna Gunn grew up in Sante Fe New Mexico and was awed by acting while attending the Preparatory School. At the end of the 70's, she and her family moved to Ohio. She attended theatre classes at Northwestern University and spent a semester studying at the British American Drama Academy. Anna started her acting career with Chicago-area theaters for a short time. She then moved on to film and television. Anna had her biggest break in 1992 when she played Arden for the duration of 29 episodes on Down the Shore. In addition, she was on Seinfeld and NYPD Blue. It was not until the end of the 1990s that she took on an acting role on The Practice. Martha Bullock, a character which she played for two years during Deadwood's 2nd season. In 2008, she was cast in the role of Skyler in Breaking Bad. She also starred in the Deadwood movie and Sully. Gunn has also appeared on the stage to play in the David Schwimmer directed production Sex With Strangers. She was also a part of the four-part podcast audio drama called Numbered Days, which was released in 2022. The relationship with Walter White and his wife Skyler is the most prominent element of the plot in Breaking Bad with the strained connection between them and the eventual end of their relationship mirroring the same arc of Walter White's final days of his life.
